Keep On Keepin’ On

“Here’s what I’m saying: Ask and you’ll get; Seek and you’ll find; Knock and the door will open.”

Luke 11:9 - MSG

There’s a steady, quiet encouragement woven into Jesus’ words here—one that’s easy to miss if we rush past them. The language Jesus uses carries the sense of continuing, persisting, returning again and again. It’s not simply “ask once,” but keep asking. Not “seek occasionally,” but keep seeking. Not “knock timidly,” but keep knocking.

Jesus isn’t handing us a blank check for every desire we bring to God. He’s inviting us into a life shaped by ongoing trust—an active, daily relationship with a Father who listens with love and responds with wisdom. Just before this verse, Jesus tells the story of a man who keeps knocking on his neighbor’s door at midnight until he receives what he needs. The point isn’t stubbornness; it’s faith that refuses to quit.

To “keep on keepin’ on” means you don’t stop praying just because the answer hasn’t arrived yet. You don’t stop seeking God’s direction just because the path feels unclear. You don’t stop knocking simply because the door hasn’t opened. You stay with Him. You keep walking by faith. You keep coming back—not because God hasn’t heard you, but because He is your Father.

Sometimes His answer will be exactly what you hoped for. Sometimes it will be different from what you asked. And sometimes the answer may take you through a path you never would have chosen. But whatever the answer, you can trust His wisdom, His timing, and His goodness.

So today, keep asking. Keep seeking. Keep knocking. Not because God is reluctant, but because He is near. Not because He needs to be persuaded, but because He invites you to keep bringing your heart to Him. Your faith grows in the returning to Him, so keep on keepin’ on.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, teach me to keep on asking, seeking, and knocking with a heart anchored in faith. When answers seem slow and the path ahead is unclear, help me keep coming back to You. Teach me to trust Your timing, Your wisdom, and Your goodness, even when Your answer is different from what I hoped for. Remind me that You hear me, that You are near, and that I never walk this journey alone.
