Blessed To Be A Blessing
God can pour on the blessings in astonishing ways so that you're ready for anything and everything, more than just ready to do what needs to be done.

I’ve always loved the old church hymn, “Count Your Blessings.” There’s something simple and profound about pausing long enough to notice the ways God has poured goodness into our lives—blessings counted “one-by-one,” as the hymn says. When we slow down, we begin to see Him everywhere. In the beauty of nature. In a child’s smile. In the quiet moments of peace that settle over us when we need it most. God is astonishingly good at blessing His people.
But Scripture reminds us that His blessings are never meant to stop with us. Today’s verse says God is able to make all grace abound toward us so that we have everything we need to “abound to every good work.” In other words, He equips us not just to be filled—but to overflow.
You may not feel like you have much. You may look at someone else and think they have more resources, more strength, more stability. But you have the presence of Jesus within you and the faithful provision of our great Provider, Jehovah Jireh. God never asks you to give out of what you don’t have. He simply asks you to trust Him with what you do have—your kindness, your compassion, your willingness, your prayers, your time, your listening ear. These are often the blessings that matter most because they carry His heart into ordinary moments—moments where your overflow can touch someone else more deeply than you may ever realize.
In its original context, this verse was about giving financially to help the poor believers in Jerusalem. But the principle stretches far beyond money. It means God’s favor is not limited to your personal needs. It means He provides enough grace, strength, and encouragement for you—and enough to spill over into every situation He places in front of you.
Sometimes that overflow looks tangible. Sometimes it’s intangible. A peaceful mind in the middle of turmoil. A smile that lifts someone’s spirit. A verse that comes to mind at just the right moment. A hug, a warm embrace, a kind word, or even helping someone carry their bags to the car. These are blessings too—quiet ones, but deeply meaningful.
We are blessed in countless ways. And every blessing carries an invitation: receive it, enjoy it, and then let it flow through you into the life of someone else. That’s how God’s goodness travels. That’s how His grace multiplies. That’s how we become living reminders of His love in a world that desperately needs it. That’s blessed to be a blessing.
Prayer
Father, thank You for the blessings You’ve poured into my life—both the ones I can see and the ones I often overlook. Teach me to recognize Your goodness and to trust Your provision, even when I feel like I don’t have enough. Fill me with Your grace so that it naturally overflows into the lives of others. Make me attentive to the opportunities You place before me today, and help me walk generously, joyfully, and faithfully. Use me as a blessing in someone’s life.
