Hang In There
“But you need to stick it out, staying with God's plan so you'll be there for the promised completion.”
Hebrews 10:36 - MSG
There are moments in our lives—yes, sometimes even seasons—when we just need to hang on. You find that you have reached the end of your rope and you don’t even have enough energy left to tie the proverbial knot.
The winds blow. The rains come. The storms of life seem to have more power than the last time they invaded your space. And you wonder, where God is in all this.
Welcome to “normal Christianity.” There are reasons why verses like today’s are in the Bible. They serve as companions to “fight the good fight of faith” and “endure hardship as good soldiers of Jesus Christ.” We are to “war a good warfare.” And to top it all off, Jesus told us that in this world we would have tribulation, but to take heart because He overcame the world for us.
In the midst of all the not-so-pleasant “stuff” that we go through, God is still there. God is still with you. God is still in you. God is ever present when the winds howl and the storms rage and the good news is that God is still in control. Sometimes, we just need to hang in there and “stick it out.”
The verse tells all believers everywhere—yes, you—that endurance, continuing to do God’s will while waiting for what He has promised, is one of the keys to victorious Christian living.
This means that we focus, even in the hard times, on staying faithful and obeying God. Ah yes, obeying God.
This is where the ultimate victory is found. And in the middle of the storm, faithfulness still matters. And how do we obey? Love God and love others. Even when it seems hard to do. Even when there’s barely enough strength left to tie that knot. Even when you don’t understand. Even when…
My friend, God cares. God is with you. God knows what you’re going through. And the Holy Spirit who lives within you is there to comfort and console. To remind you of God’s great love for you.
Today’s verse is not a message about the rules of religiosity or some pattern of “doing” so you can earn God’s favor. No, it is a simple reminder that when things aren’t going quite right in your eyes, you have a God who knows the end. You have a God who has a reward for you. He is here now. He was here yesterday. And He will be here tomorrow. Know that He loves you. Reach out to Him in the midst of your trials. So, stick it out, and remember that our perseverance isn't about earning God's favor; it's about trusting the God who is faithful to His promise.
Prayer
Father, You know I am barely hanging on by faith today. Breathe Your strength into my weary places. Remind me that You are near—closer than the storm, stronger than the wind, and faithful in every season. Steady my heart with Your peace. Let Your love quiet my fears and Your presence anchor my hope. Teach me to trust Your timing, to rest in Your care, and to keep loving You and others even when the path feels heavy. Surround me with Your comfort, uphold me with Your Spirit, and let me sense Your hand holding me fast.
In Jesus’ Name, Amen…
