When the Light Comes On

For those who love what you reveal, everything fits - no stumbling around in the dark for them.

Psalm 119:165 - MSG

When I think of the miracles of Jesus, I try to imagine what it must have been like for the man who had been blind from birth. He had never seen the world around him. He had never watched a sunrise, admired the beauty of a flower, or looked into the face of someone he loved. He had lived his entire life without sight, depending on others to help him find his way.

Then Jesus comes along, heals him, and suddenly there is light! A whole new world opens up before him. Everything looks different. Everything he had only heard about or imagined is now something he can see and experience for himself. No more stumbling around in the darkness. His life has changed forever.

My life was much like that. I stumbled around in the darkness of my soul, trying to find my way through life without really understanding what I was missing.

But then Jesus came along, and everything changed. I found the Light—the One who opened my eyes to a whole new way of seeing life. And through His Word, I discovered the wisdom, promises, and truth that would keep me from stumbling around in the darkness again.

Today's verse tells us that those who love God's Word enjoy a peace so deep that they are no longer wandering through life in the dark. No longer stumbling. Another translation puts it this way: "Great peace have those who love Your law."

When you love God's Word, you don't approach it as a rulebook to endure. You approach it as a revelation of a Father who loves you. You discover His wisdom when life becomes confusing. You find His promises when fear tries to take hold. You are reminded of His faithfulness when the opinions of others grow loud.

Over time, something remarkable begins to happen.

The same people who once offended you begin to lose their power to control your emotions. The circumstances that once filled you with panic no longer shake your foundation. The disappointments that once threatened to make you bitter find less room to take root in your heart.

The Believer who continually feeds on Scripture develops a spiritual strength that the world cannot understand. Hurtful words may still sting. Trials may still bring tears. Life may still be difficult. Yet God's Word keeps bringing the soul back to center. It reminds us that God is still sovereign, still good, still present, and still working all things together for our good.

When His Word fills our hearts, the pathway ahead becomes clearer. The darkness loses its grip. The stumbling becomes less frequent. And through it all, God's peace settles over your life like a warm covering on a cold evening, bringing comfort, confidence, and rest.

Sometimes all we need is for the light to come on. And every time we open God's Word with a heart ready to receive it, He gives us another opportunity to see things as He sees them.

Today, as you read your Bible, may you discover the peace you have been searching for. May you draw closer to the One who is the Light of the world, the One who loves you, guides you, and keeps you from stumbling around in the dark.

Prayer

Father, thank You for the gift of Your Word. Thank You that it is more than instruction. It is a revelation of Your heart and Your love for us. Fill us with the deep peace that comes from walking closely with You. Help us to love Your truth, trust Your promises, and remain steady when life becomes difficult. Guard our hearts from offense, bitterness, and fear. Let Your Word be a lamp to our feet and a light to our path. Keep me from stumbling today.

In Jesus' Name, Amen…
