Only God is God

As I live and breathe,” God says, “every knee will bow before me; Every tongue will tell the honest truth that I and only I am God.

Romans 14:11 - MSG

While it may not be today, there is a time coming when every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that God is God. He alone will cause all of humanity to recognize the fact that He has always been Sovereign. That He alone is the King of the entire universe.

Think about it; every knee will bow before God. There is a holy stillness in those words—an unshakable reminder that God alone is God. Not us. Not our opinions. Not our preferences. Not our convictions. Only God stands as the Sovereign before whom every knee will one day bow and every tongue will one day confess.

There is only One before whom we will all stand. There is only One to whom we will all give account. There is only One who sees the heart clearly. God alone is the Judge. God alone is the Master. God alone is the One who weighs motives, measures faithfulness, and knows the story behind every heart, and one day, every person—Believer and unbeliever, strong and weak, confident and uncertain—will acknowledge the truth: God is God, and His authority is absolute.

Then there’s the parallel part that says every tongue will confess to Him. Not to each other. Not to human judges. Not to those who misunderstood us. We answer to God alone. And that very fact alone should change how we treat one another today.

We are called to live a life marked by humility, grace, and unity. We’re to focus on our own walk with God, not on policing someone else’s conscience. We’re to refuse to become a stumbling block, choosing love over liberty when necessary. We’re to remember that God sees the heart, even when we cannot. We’re to trust God to do the judging, because only He is qualified.

When we remember that every knee will bow and every tongue will confess, that includes ours. This helps to soften our tone. It quiets our pride, and steadies our spirit. It frees us from the burden of trying to be someone else’s judge. It reminds us that God is God, and we are not. And that is a liberating truth that needs to be remembered.

Today, let this verse settle your heart. Let it remind you that God is the One who holds all authority, all wisdom, all justice, and all truth. You don’t have to carry the weight of judging others. You don’t have to fix everyone’s convictions. You don’t have to make others see things your way. You simply walk faithfully before the Lord who knows you, loves you, and will one day receive your confession with grace.

So, remember this, only God is God. And one day, every knee will bow before Him and every tongue will confess that He alone is God. You, me and everyone else. Let’s all allow this to be a sober reminder today of who He is and who we are not. Be blessed everyone…

Prayer

Father, thank You for being the One true God. Help me to live with humility, grace, and a heart that honors You above all else. Keep me from judging others, and teach me to walk in love, unity, and peace.

In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
