Wake Up to God’s Glory

"Get out of bed, Jerusalem! Wake up. Put your face in the sunlight. God's bright glory has risen for you.”

Isaiah 60:1 - MSG

There are mornings when we simply don't want to get out of bed. Sleep feels comfortable, and facing another day can wait just a little longer. "Just five more minutes," we tell ourselves.

Our spiritual lives can look much the same from time to time.

There are seasons when God is calling us into renewal, deeper faith, or faithful action, yet we hesitate. We grow comfortable where we are, even when we know He is inviting us to something more.

Isaiah's words were first spoken to God's people as they emerged from a season of despair and spiritual darkness. They were being called to rise from discouragement because God's glory was dawning upon them. That same invitation still echoes to every Believer today.

When the Lord tells us to arise, He is calling us to leave behind spiritual complacency, fear, and the darkness that so easily clouds our hearts. His light has already come. Because of Christ, we no longer have to remain where we once were. Instead, we are called to reflect the beauty of His grace and truth to a world desperately searching for hope.

The wonderful news is that we do not have to create our own light. God Himself is the source of all light, and through His Holy Spirit He lives within us. Our calling is not to manufacture goodness but to faithfully reflect His presence, much as the moon reflects the brilliance of the sun. As we walk with Him, His light naturally shines through our words, our attitudes, and our actions.

That light can make an eternal difference. God may use a simple act of kindness, a word of encouragement, or a quiet testimony of faith to bring hope into someone's suffering and draw them toward His comfort, peace, and restoration. We may never fully know how He uses our obedience, but He delights in using ordinary people to display His extraordinary glory. He delights in using you.

Every morning God calls His children to rise—not merely from sleep, but into His purpose. The world does not need more clever voices; it needs people whose lives reflect the light of Christ. This is our wake-up call: to let His glory shine through us so others may see His goodness and know that He alone is God. Let’s all wake up to God’s glory.

Prayer

Father, thank You for calling me out of the places where I've grown tired, discouraged, or hidden. Today I ask that You help me wake up to Your presence, Your leading, and the light You have placed within me.

Lift me from anything that keeps me spiritually asleep. Stir my heart where it has grown quiet and awaken within me a fresh desire to follow You. Let Your light shine through my life in such a way that others find hope because they have seen You in me. Make me a faithful reflection of Your grace wherever You lead me. Help me carry Your light and Your love well and point others to the One who is the Light of the world.

In Jesus' name, Amen…
