Love is Always the Best
"But for right now, until that completeness, we have three things to do to lead us toward that consummation: Trust steadily in God, hope unswervingly, love extravagantly. And the best of the three is love."
1 Corinthians 13:13 - MSG
We are in a type of holding pattern right now. We are either awaiting the Lord’s return, or we are awaiting our turn to go to Him. While we’re here, however, we have been entrusted with the two great commandments that keep us on the straight and narrow – love God and love others. Love, as we’re told today, is always the best. Always…
Yes, there are many beautiful gifts God gives His people. He gives wisdom, insight, spiritual strength, and the ability to speak truth with power. But some things, as precious as they are, will one day fade. Prophecies will cease. Knowledge will be surpassed. Tongues will fall silent. All those gifts mentioned in “The Love Chapter” will indeed pass away, yet there are three virtues that will stand tall forever: faith, hope, and love.
Yet faith will one day become sight. Everything we have trusted God for—everything we have believed without seeing—will finally be right before our eyes. And hope will one day be fulfilled. Every longing, every promise, every expectation rooted in God’s goodness will be completed in His presence. But love… love will never be replaced, never outgrown, never set aside. Love is the greatest of all because love is the very heartbeat of God Himself. Remember, God is Love.
Love is the best because it is eternal. Love is the best because it is God’s nature. Love is the best because it is the one virtue that continues unchanged in both this life and the life to come. And love is the best because it is the clearest way we reflect Jesus—through patience, kindness, forgiveness, and sacrificial care for others.
Love is the one key ingredient that overcomes all evil. Love covers the multitude of sins. Love never fails. Love is not proud or arrogant. Love, true love is never self-serving. Love, the Love of God in us, in you, is the love that everyone around you needs today. And the love that God has placed within you in the presence of the Holy Spirit is the very best of everything. It is the best of God, and it is the best of you as well.
So today, let your heart rest in this truth: the greatest thing you can ever give, ever receive, ever live out—is love. It is always the best. It is always the greatest. And it is always the way of Christ. Love, giving love to others, is the very best life of every true Follower of Jesus Christ. Love is always the best…
Prayer
Father, thank You for reminding me that love is the greatest gift You’ve given. Help me live today in a way that reflects Your heart—choosing patience, kindness, and sacrificial care - love. Teach me to love like Jesus, with a steady, enduring love that mirrors Yours.
In Jesus’ Name, Amen…
