Choose the True Road

“I choose the true road to Somewhere, I post your road signs at every curve and corner.”

Psalm 119:30 - MSG

Growing up, I loved to race my car through the curvy mountain roads. There was a thirty-mile stretch that we used to challenge one another on to see who could navigate it the fastest. There were sharp corners that forced us to slow down so we could make the turns safely, but the thrill of the race was absolutely exhilarating.

Today’s verse talks about curves and corners. Life has a lot of them.

Sometimes the path we choose is straight and narrow, and with the Lord’s help, we manage to navigate it successfully. Then there are other times when we miss the road signs and take a wrong turn. Suddenly, we find ourselves traveling down a road we never intended to take. The farther we go, the more difficult it becomes to find our way back.

The key to navigating life successfully is given to us quite plainly in the Word of God. It begins with making a conscious, daily decision to live according to God’s truth and keep His teachings right in front of us as our guide.

When we “choose the true road to Somewhere,” we are choosing to follow God. And this doesn't happen by accident. We must make a deliberate, active choice to walk a loyal, honest, and steady path rather than following false or harmful ways. This is the road God marks with His “road signs at every curve and corner” of our lives.

When we embrace the teachings of Jesus, it is like placing a map directly in front of our eyes. When we keep God's truth before us, it helps us recognize the right direction and make wise choices along the way.

But there is something else we need to remember.

Sometimes, even when we know the right road, we make the wrong turn. We miss the sign. We get distracted. We allow our own desires or circumstances to take us in a direction God never intended. And when that happens, God doesn't abandon us there. His grace is still waiting to redirect us back to the road He has chosen for us.

Following God's road doesn't mean every mile will be easy. There will still be curves we didn't expect and corners that require us to slow down. There will be stretches of road where we cannot see what lies ahead. But we never have to navigate those roads alone.

There is a deep sense of knowing that God is there in the midst of every turn we take. His presence warms our hearts, comforts our souls, and brightens the pathway ahead.

So today, as you face the choices and turns that are before you, make them in the power, strength, and presence of the precious Holy Spirit who lives within you. Keep God's Word before your eyes. Watch for His road signs. Trust His direction. And if you find yourself on the wrong road, don't give up. Turn your heart back toward Him and let His grace lead you home.

The road of life may have curves. The journey may not always be easy. But when you choose the true road and allow God to guide you, you can travel with confidence, knowing that He is with you every step of the way.

Prayer

Father, thank You for marking the true road before me with Your wisdom and Your Word. When life bends unexpectedly or the way ahead feels uncertain, remind me that Your signs are trustworthy and Your presence is constant.

Teach me to choose Your path with intention—to walk honestly, humbly, and closely with You. Keep Your truth before my eyes, steady my steps when the turns are sharp, and strengthen my heart to follow You with loyalty and joy.

And when I make a wrong turn, remind me that Your grace has not left me. Help me recognize Your direction and give me the courage to turn back toward You. Lead me today along the road that brings me nearer to Your purpose and deeper into Your peace. May I trust You with every curve, every corner, and every mile ahead.

In Jesus’ Name, Amen…
